Casaloma is the most beautiful tourist spot of Canada
Toronto Casa Loma |
This is a 98-room medieval-style castle-cum-mansion built between 1911 and 1914 by sir Henry Pellat, a very wealthy and evidently eccentric man. The mansion has been a tourist site since 1937, when the cost of upkeep became too much for its owner. The interior is sumptuous, built with the finest materials imported from around the world. Note especially the conservatory. Pellat even brought in stonemasons from Scotland to build the walls around the estate.
In summer, the 2.5
hectares of restored gardens behind the castle are worth a visit in themselves.
This area is open to the public (without the need to buy a ticket to the
castle) on the first Monday of each month and every Tuesday form 4 pm to dusk.
At Christmas time,
elaborate thematic indoor exhibits are put on, geared mainly to children.
Loma Toronto
is open every day from 10 am to 4 pm. A ticket costs $9 and parking at the site
in $2.50 an hour. If you’re lucky, you may find a spot in the surrounding neighborhood;
alternatively, consider using the subway; the DuPont subway station is within
walking distance. The address is 1 Austin Terrace, off Spading Ave. From the toronto
casa
corner of DuPont and Bathurst Sts, it can be clearly seen, perched impressively
above its surroundings. Enjoy the information of casaloma Toronto.
