Information of Ontario Place
Canada Ontario is rich of tourist attractions. This 40-hectare recreation complex is built on three artificial islands offshore from the Canadian National exhibition (CNE) grounds, 955 Lake Shore Blvd W. the lake- edge setting, spacious design, numerous patios and outdoor activities can make a pleasant summer escape from the hot, crowded downtown streets but the privilege costs you $10. A large, popular children’s play area where you can just let them go nuts is include. Other activities and attractions such as a water park with slides and a wading pool must be paid for separately or a $20 day pass is offered.
The futuristic buildings
and parkland contain restaurants, beer gardens, beer gardens, the Molson Amphitheatre
for concerts and an IMAX cinema (the Cinesphere), where 70 mm films are shown
on a six-storey-high curved screen. The IMAX prices are $7 to $9.
In summer there are
nightly concerts at the amphitheatre, with everything from ballet to rock at
usual performance prices (a ticket permits site entry for the whole day).at the
western end is another stage with a lesser names perform free shows. Nearby is
the 700m-long flume water slid e with simulated rapids and tunnels.
The park is open from
mid-May to October from 10.30 am to 1 am (until Midnight on Sunday).
If you are driving,
parking is a shopping $9. Take a subway or streetcar to Bathurst St and then
the streetcar south down Bathurst St to the CNE exhibition grounds Over summer
months a shuttle bus runs from Union Station to the gate of Ontario Places and back frequently
through the day. Take a sweater-even on a hot day it gets cold at night down by
the water.
Also note that on rainy
days many of the activities, restaurants etc may not operate,
Moored outside the
eastern end Place Ontario is the
Haida, a destroyer, which is open to visitors. Enjoy the Ontario
place in Toronto.
