Currency Museum
For those who like to look at money, you can see lots more
of it at the Currency Museum (9613-782-8914) in the Bank of Canada to 245 Sparks St. in summer, its open Monday to
Saturday and on Sunday afternoon. From September to May, it’s closed Monday.
Various displays tell the story of money through the ages, fro whale’s teeth to
collector’s banknotes. Admission is free.
Basilica of Notre Dame
Notre Dame Basilica built in 1839, this is one of the city’s most impressive house of worship. A pamphlet available
at the door outlines the many features, including carvings, windows, the organ
and the Gothic-style ceiling. It’s on Guigues Ave, across from the National Gallery, in the Byward Market area.
