A small community along the river, Brockville Canada is a particularly attractive town, with its many old stone buildings and the classic looking main street. The courthouse and jail in the centre of town date from 1842. During summer, many of the finest buildings are lit up, accentuating the slight resort flavor of this casual river port by the Thousand Islands. Cruises depart from the central waterfront area.

Morrisburg Ontario lies west of Cornwall on the St Lawrence River. Despite its small size, it’s known far and wide for its good historic site- Upper Canada Village, the detailed recreation of a country town from the 1860s. About 40 buildings and costumed workers bring the past to life. There’s a blacksmith’s shop, inn and sawmill as well as a working farm, all set by the river.
